This absolutely spooktacular video makes me wish I no longer lived in an apartment. Also, I think I want to purchase ‘The Nightmare Before Christmas’ on blu-ray. Check this out! – Lights in sync with the song “This is Halloween” from the movie The Nightmare Before Christmas. This home resides in Riverside, Ca.

Alexa Meade giving still life a whole new meaning

Alexa Meade is a 25-year-old artist whose work lies at the intersection of painting, photography, performance, and installation. Meade, who lives and works in Washington, D.C., creates photographs that could easily be mistaken for paintings.  However, as she explains, “Instead of painting a picture on a two dimensional canvas, I paint directly on top of my subjects in three dimensional space. The photographs of the painted scenes look like flat paintings without the assistance of Photoshop or digital manipulation.”

Meade takes all the photos of her works as well as painting them, even though, she revealed, “I haven’t taken any formal training in painting or photography.”

This photo shows Alexa Meade’s painted model head-on, but “from any angle, it will look flat,” she said of the work. It’s as if the model is “being cannibalized,” she added.

As it gets closer to Halloween I am dreaming about this sort of painting being done to transform a person into a cartoon character. Here are more images of her work I enjoyed.
